With a hamster, you can just throw a wheel in his cage, and will hop right on it and puffing away - Going Nowhere - and is perfectly happy. It reminds me of the people you see in the gym - chug away from elliptical - Going Nowhere - but more and more healthy. Throw in a wheel cage guinea pig and see what happens. Chances are, they chew on it - that is until she gets bored and ignores it. They also know what you can do with a dog. Put it on a leash andtake a walk. When was the last time anyone has seen out walking their guinea pigs? What is good for dogs is not necessarily good for guinea pigs.
So how do you give your pig operation to ensure that it stays healthy and happy?
Simple - you let run free. Find a safe area in your home, confinement and is free of dangers such as electric cables. Guinea pigs are notorious chewers, and given the opportunity, they can easily chew through the insulation of an electric cable and electric shockthemselves. Guinea pigs spend most of their lives in their cage. If the pig in an area too small to be (prepared as a standard-sized cage) exercise limited, will have at least 25 minutes to get the free-range exercise every day. If the pork is a great C & C (Cubes and Coroplast) cage is held, then it is probably already getting a lot of practice.
If your guinea pigs live in a large cage, you will see when they are in their country of origin. They flit around a lot? Performed"Laps" around the cage? Do you see a lot of popcorn? Do your pigs are in general, and move most of the time? If so, then you can be sure that at least get some exercise. My recommendation is that if your pig is usually active in his cage, then it should be out to stretch his legs and really run free at least 25 minutes every two days. If you have a pig sitting, eating and sleeping only in general, then - even if you live in a large cage - I still recommend thatout there to explore and exercise for at least 25 minutes a day.
Even if your pig is "hyperactive" in his cage, I recommend leaving him, at least every other day for no more than intellectual stimulation. Pig environmental change and exposes it to new situations and exciting and will stimulate his brain to form new neural connections. Pigs are curious little creatures who enjoy hiking and exploring - sniffing and nibbling new items, like discovering something newThings.
Guinea pigs spend most of their lives confined to their homes. If you have it, with a large cage like a C & C cage available, so they have an increased ability to exercise at home. No matter your pigs should get out and explore every day, if possible, to ensure they get sufficient exercise and mental stimulation. And 'your responsibility as owners of pet care.
